"An intentionally obtuse experiment, 3X3D is a visual assault in three dimensions unlike any other 3D movie." - Indiewire
Closing Night movie at Cannes Critics week, 3X3D is a cinematic triptych that combines disparate short films from directors Peter Greenaway, Jean-Luc Godard and Edgar Pêra. The film was commissioned by the Portuguese City of Guimarães, the EU's 2012 Capital of Culture.
The trio of directors each pushes the envelope as the films explore history, memory, technology and the evolving state of modern cinema. Greenaway's Just in Time delivers a hyperactive textural experience, while Godard's The Three Disasters (stubbornly mostly in 2D), reorders material from his gargantuan Histoire(s) project. Portuguese Pêra's concluding film Cinesapiens, keeps audiences guessing right to the final frame, ending with a surreal and haunting scene experience.
