INDUSTRY INFORMATION |
BRISBANE
– FILM CITY
Brisbane’s
film industry is an area of great potential with over 4,500
people employed in the ‘broadcasting, electronic media and
film sector’ in Brisbane (ABS census data 2001). With global
film and television production worth over US$250 billion
per annum, it is one of the world’s fastest growing industries.
Brisbane
City Council has developed an initiative to help Brisbane
businesses work together to grow jobs and exports. It’s
a way of bringing together like-minded businesses so they
can collectively overcome industry-specific issues and develop
new strategies for growth. These groups are called ‘clusters’
and they make good business sense.
Industry
clusters meet regularly to exchange ideas and develop strategies
to help their industry, and their individual businesses, flourish.
The benefits can be enormous.
Brisbane
– Film City aims to position Brisbane nationally
and internationally as one of Australia’s leading centres
for film. This includes:
-
increasing collaboration and communication within local
industry
-
developing skills and identifying training needs
-
encouraging and developing infrastructure to attract and
grow the local industry.
