Jurors
Chris Fujiwara is a member of FIPRESCI and the author
of Jacques Tourneur: The Cinema of Nightfall. He is a contributing
editor of Hermenaut, a journal of popular culture and philosophy,
and has written for a variety of film publications. He has
been a visiting professor in film studies at Yale University
and an adjunct professor in visual and media arts at Emerson
College.
A veteran of film, television, radio, and print journalism,
Ruth Hessey regularly reviews films on ABC Radio 702
and in publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, IF,
and The Age. Her book Flickers features a collection of film
interviews and essays written during her years as a print
journalist. Ruth has had extensive involvement in the film-festival
circuit in roles as diverse as juror, festival director, and
performer.
Kenichi Okubo is a film critic for Tokyo's Hochi Shimbun.
He has written several books, including Welcome to Hard Times:
Dialogue with American Actor, Warren Oates and The Geography
of World Cinema, and co-authored Hollywood Renaissance: New
Directors and the New Way of Filmmaking and American Film
Producers: The New Generation of Industry. He has worked as
an adviser and juror at numerous international film festivals.
