How to buy online
When you've spent some time browsing our catalogue or our
online database and you know which films you want to see,
use these simple steps to make your first online purchase.
Buying tickets or redeeming tickets from
a pass.
- Register yourself on the site (click Register for BIFF
on any page). If you are already registered, sign in using
the box on the left.
Once you've signed in you'll notice the site changes, and
there is a new menu down the left hand side that allows
you easy access to all the special functions of the site
- Find the film (or films) you want to see. Click on SEARCH
in the left hand menu to find the film title. If you're
using My Festival, you can click on the title in My Festival
to go straight to that film.
- Select the session you wish to attend.
- You now have two choices: you can redeem against a pass
or buy tickets.
If you have a pass and want to use it to get tickets to
that film, click 'Redeem a Pass'. A pop-up window will open
displaying how many tickets you have remaining on your pass.
Select the number of tickets you wish to redeem for this
film. If you have more than one pass, you might also have
to select which type of pass you will redeem against. Pay
attention to the Ticket Category for the session so you
can select the best pass option. Then click Redeem a Pass.
This adds the transaction to My Bookings. Please note, the
transaction is not yet complete, and your pass has not been
debited at this point.
If you want to buy tickets, select the type of ticket (if
more than one is available for that film) and the number
of tickets you want for that film, then click 'Add to My
Bookings'. The name of the film will appear in My Bookings
on the left hand side of the page.
You can use a combination of redemptions and purchases in
one transaction.
If you want to redeem against a pass or buy tickets to more
than one film, you can now go back to step 2, and keep repeating
until you are satisfied you have 'booked' all the tickets
you wish to purchase at this point in time.
- When you are ready to confirm payment or redemption details,
click the Purchase/Redeem Now button under My Bookings.
The main screen will display a list of all the transactions
you have nominated. Check it carefully, and make any adjustments
as appropriate. You can delete a whole transaction by clicking
the X to the left of the transaction listing.
When you are satisfied it is correct, click Next. If payment
is required this will start up the Commonwealth Bank secure
online transaction system. If you have only redeemed passes,
this will complete your transaction and debit your pass.
- When your transaction is complete, you will be sent an
email to your registered address containing the details
of your transaction. This is your official receipt. Print
it off and bring it to the collection point in the Regent
to pick up your tickets. If you've made a concession purchase,
you will be asked to display the concession card when you
pick up the tickets. If you fail to bring your concession
card, you will be asked to pay the difference.
- Enjoy the film!

Purchasing passes online
To purchase a pass online:
- Sign in (see step 1 above for detail).
- Click on Passes from the left hand menu
- Select the type of Take 5 you wish to buy (there are three
types; Standard and Concession, entitling you to any 5 R/D/L/G/C
sessions, and Off-peak, entitling you to any 5 D/L/G/C sessions).
- Select the number you wish to purchase. Remember, a Take
5 is essentially a voucher for 5 tickets. If you want to
see 10 films that is equivalent to 2 Take 5 passes.
- Click Purchase Now. This will start up the Commonwealth
Bank secure online transaction system.
- When your transaction is complete, you will be sent an
email to your registered address detailing the transaction
you have made. This is your official receipt. You will need
this receipt if you wish to go to the Box office to redeem
your pass.
- Redeem your pass for tickets to individual sessions using
the steps above or take your receipt to the box-office to
redeem your pass in person. Remember, if you've made a concession
purchase, you will be asked to display the concession card
when you pick up the tickets.

Registering passes online
If you've purchased a pass at the box office we recommend
that, whether you intend to redeem it online or offline, you
register it online at the BIFF site.
Why? Until you register your pass it is like cash. There
is nothing to say it belongs to a specific person. If you
drop it in the street, anyone can pick it up and use it. We
will have no way of knowing it wasn't you.
By registering your pass online, you link it to your profile.
When the pass is used, the person using it must be identified
as being the proper pass holder before they can make a transaction.
It's an extra level of security to give you piece of mind.
Passes purchased online are automatically linked to your
profile.
To register a pass:
- Logon to the site and sign in. If you are not registered
you will need to do so first.
- Click on Passes
- Enter the PASS NUMBER into the space provided, and click
REGISTER.
- The pass is now linked to your profile.

A note on concessions
We are pleased to offer concession pricing to specified groups.
Please note that concessions only apply to the cardholder
and are not transferable. Every time tickets or passes are
collected from the box-office, patrons must provide appropriate
ID to obtain the concession. If you are picking up tickets
on behalf of other people, you will need to have their concession
cards with you.

Access to theatres
BIFF tries to accommodate all patrons and schedules the
films around venues to ensure greater accessibility. There
is wheelchair access to Cinema 1 and 2. The majority of BIFF
sessions are held in Cinema 1 where there is access for wheelchairs.
Cinema 3 and 4 are up the Grand Staircase of the Regent Theatre
and there is no wheelchair access due to the heritage listing
of the building. Where possible BIFF schedules films that
are in Cinema 3 or 4 to be repeated in Cinema 1 or at the
State Library of Queensland to ensure access for all patrons.
Check the venue code of the film you are interested in or
telephone 3007 3007 for more information.
Ring ahead if possible to notify staff to be on hand at the
wheelchair lift in the Foyer at the Regent.
