Each year the Brisbane International Film Festival acknowledges a distinguished
contributor to Australian cinema through the Chauvel Award. This year, for
the first time, the Chauvel Award goes to a specialist producer. Click

Also this year, we are delighted to be introducing a FIPRESCI jury at BIFF.
The NETPAC Award, instigated last year, will also be back. We hope that
the presence of these two juries will aid the development of a critical
culture for film in Brisbane. Jury members will discuss in a seminar the
importance of film criticism in developing film culture.
