Terms and conditions

1.  Eligible Films

The festival will not accept films that have previously screened in any format or duration in Queensland or that have been broadcast online or on Australian television except under special circumstances.  In general, films must have been completed after 1 January 2011.

A film is considered a Short if it is 30 minutes or less in length.

A film is considered a Feature if it is 31 minutes or more in length.

2. Deadlines and Entry Fees

As stated above.

3. Fee Waivers

Unfortunately, BIFF is not able to waive the entry fee as we rely on these fees to administer the large numbers of entries.

4. Preview Copy

A preview copy of your film must be submitted for selection purposes (on DVD).  Each preview copy must be submitted through Withoutabox and have paid the appropriate entry fee.  If your film is accepted for screening at the festival, you must be prepared to supply a 35mm, Betacam, Digibeta, HD Cam (not HD Cam SR), E Cinema package or DCP format for screening.

Please do not include publicity materials with your preview copy, as BIFF cannot store or return them.

Preview copies will not be returned.

5. Submission

Only submissions accompanied by the correct fee, and received by the allocated deadline, will be accepted/considered.

Films submitted without payment will not be considered.

All deadlines are postmarked. However, all preview copies must be received within two weeks of the deadline in which they were submitted, to be considered.

Preview copies for submission for the final deadline (Friday 6 July 2012) must be received within one week.

All preview copies must be received by BIFF office by Friday 13 July 2012 to be considered. Any copies received later than that date will not be considered.

6.  Late Entries

Late entries will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and only on advice of the Head of Screen Culture.
